Identity verification (IDV)

Identity verification (IDV) is the process of confirming that a person is who they claim to be, using data checks, documents or biometrics. In lending it prevents application fraud and impersonation and is a core part of KYC and onboarding.

IDV ranges from data-only checks against trusted sources to document and biometric verification for higher-risk cases. The aim is to be confident in identity without adding needless friction for genuine applicants.

Layering identity signals (data, device, documents) catches synthetic and stolen identities more reliably than any single check.
